Marine Results have proved that they are amongst the most specialised superyacht riggers in the world, by securing yet another contract with the massive 289-foot three-masted sailing yacht Maltese Falcon.
The team carried out a full inspection service of the rigs and performed routine maintenance of each of the custom built JP3 500 tonne bearings, which lie at the deck level of the huge masts, and which the mast rotates on.
Maltese Falcon’s innovative DynaRig sail design allows the masts to rotate depending on wind direction. Each bearing allows the mast above it to rotate under extreme load.
This has been the first inspection of its kind, which was needed for insurance standards and has to be carried out every 100,000 miles or 5 years.
Marine Results undertook the full visual inspection in La Spezia, and the team will continue to undertake ongoing rigging work on the boat when she arrives back in her home port Malta.
As well as working on the rig, Marine Results are inspecting and replacing components on the tender lifting system and yards for the yacht’s tenders.
