The Volvo Ocean Race is over but with wear and tear an increasing consideration after more than 40,000 miles, rig maintenance continued to be thorough right to the finish. Marine Results’ Jon Morris flew to both Newport RI and Lisbon, the stop overs either side of the transatlantic Leg 7 to do a complete assessment of Azzam’s rig. The 100 ft carbon mast was unstepped in Lisbon enabling Jon to carry out a full inspection, and re-stepped ready for the final two legs to Lorient and the finish line at Gothenburg.
